PV Test Equipment

Plain English summary: We collect your name, email, and company name only when you voluntarily submit our contact form. We use Google Analytics to understand site traffic. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than responding to your inquiry and, if you opted in, sending occasional updates. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing joel@pvtestequipment.com.

1. Who We Are

PVTestEquipment.com is operated by PVTestEquipment.com, LLC, a South Carolina limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). Our principal place of business is Rock Hill, South Carolina.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit www.pvtestequipment.com (the "Site"). Please read it carefully. If you disagree with the terms of this policy, please discontinue use of the Site.

Questions or requests regarding this policy should be directed to: joel@pvtestequipment.com

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you use the Site.

Information you provide voluntarily

When you submit the "Get in Touch" contact form on the Site, we collect:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Company name (optional)
  • The nature of your challenge or inquiry
  • Any additional detail you choose to provide
  • Your marketing communication preference (whether you opted in to receive equipment recommendations, training announcements, and industry updates)

You are not required to submit this form to use the Site. No account registration is required.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we use Google Analytics 4 (a web analytics service provided by Google LLC) to automatically collect certain information about your visit, including:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring website or search query
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Operating system
  • Approximate geographic location (country and region, derived from IP address)
  • Anonymized IP address (Google Analytics anonymizes IP addresses by default in GA4)

This information is collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies placed by Google Analytics. We do not have access to individually identifiable information collected by Google Analytics — we see only aggregated, anonymized reports about site traffic and usage patterns.

We do not use advertising networks, retargeting pixels, social media tracking scripts, or any third-party tracking technology other than Google Analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your inquiry. If you submit the contact form, we use your name, email, and inquiry details to respond to your message and provide the information or assistance you requested.
  • To send marketing communications (only if you opted in). If you checked the consent box on the contact form, we may send you occasional emails about equipment recommendations, training opportunities, and industry updates relevant to solar PV testing and measurement. You may withdraw this consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email or by contacting us directly.
  • To understand and improve the Site. We use aggregated, anonymized Google Analytics data to understand which pages are most useful to visitors, how people navigate the Site, and how to improve the quality and relevance of our content.
  • To comply with legal obligations. We may use or disclose information as required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority.

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share personal information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Formspree. Contact form submissions are processed by Formspree, Inc. (formspree.io), a third-party form processing service. When you submit our contact form, your submission is transmitted to and temporarily stored on Formspree's servers before being delivered to us. Formspree's privacy policy is available at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Google LLC (Google Analytics). Site usage data is collected and processed by Google Analytics. Google may transfer this data to servers in the United States or other countries. Google's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Legal compliance and protection. We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our rights or property, prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing, or protect the personal safety of users of the Site.
  • Business transfers. If PVTestEquipment.com, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on the Site of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.

We do not share personal information with any other third parties.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies — small text files placed on your device — to enable Google Analytics tracking. These are analytics cookies only. We do not use advertising cookies, social media cookies, or any other tracking technology.

The cookies placed by Google Analytics collect anonymized usage data as described in Section 2 above. They do not collect your name, email address, or any other directly identifying information.

Managing cookies: You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when new cookies are set. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some websites you visit. The following links explain how to manage cookies in common browsers:

You may also opt out of Google Analytics specifically using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Data Retention

We retain contact form submissions (your name, email, company, and inquiry) for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry and, if you have opted in to marketing communications, for as long as you remain subscribed. We do not retain form submissions indefinitely — inactive records are reviewed and purged periodically.

Google Analytics data is retained in accordance with Google's standard retention settings, which we have configured to 14 months. After this period, data is automatically deleted from Google's systems.

You may request deletion of your personal information at any time. See Section 8 (Your Rights) below.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect the personal information we collect. Contact form submissions are transmitted to Formspree over encrypted HTTPS connections. The Site itself is served over HTTPS. We do not store contact form data on our own servers — submissions are delivered directly to us by Formspree and retained only in our email system.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information and encourage you to exercise care when sharing personal information online.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. Regardless of your location, we will honor the following requests:

  • Access. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Deletion. You may request that we delete the personal information we hold about you. We will honor deletion requests except where we are required to retain information by law.
  • Opt-out of marketing. If you have opted in to marketing communications, you may withdraw that consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email we send, or by emailing joel@pvtestequipment.com with the subject line "Unsubscribe."
  • Opt-out of analytics. You may opt out of Google Analytics data collection by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. To exercise these rights, contact us at joel@pvtestequipment.com.

EEA, UK, and Swiss residents (GDPR/UK GDPR): If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right of access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing. Our legal basis for processing your personal information is: (a) your consent, for marketing communications; (b) our legitimate interests, for analytics and improving the Site; and (c) compliance with legal obligations. To exercise your GDPR rights, contact us at joel@pvtestequipment.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

We will respond to all verifiable privacy requests within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for use by solar PV industry professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please do not submit any personal information through the Site. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 18 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us at joel@pvtestequipment.com.

The Site contains links to third-party websites, including manufacturer product pages and partner sites (such as pvhazardcontrol.com, solartoolsusa.com, and heliovolta.com). These links are provided for informational purposes only. We have no control over the content or privacy practices of third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

Third-party manufacturer product images displayed on this Site are loaded directly from manufacturer web servers. When your browser loads these images, the manufacturer's server may log your IP address and browser information in accordance with their own privacy practices.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Site, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your continued use of the Site after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
