Overview

The Entec Solar E-1500 is a capacitive IV curve tracer designed from the ground up for high-throughput field testing on large PV installations. Its defining characteristic is speed: at up to 200 IV curves per hour, it can sweep an entire combiner box worth of strings in the time most tracers are still setting up for the second measurement. This makes it the instrument of choice for utility-scale O&M campaigns and large commissioning programmes where total string count — not per-string detail — is the primary constraint.

Measurement accuracy is ±0.5% at the maximum power point, compliant with IEC 61829 for IV curve acquisition and IEC 60891 for STC correction. Environmental data — irradiance and module temperature — is provided by the E-Sens wireless sensor, which pairs with the E-1500 over a communication range of up to 2 kilometres. This extended range eliminates the need to reposition the sensor as the technician moves through large arrays, maintaining continuous STC-correctable environmental data across the full measurement campaign.

The E-1500 was the first IV curve tracer in the world to support bifacial albedo measurement using up to two reference cells simultaneously — one for front-side irradiance and one for rear-side. Combined with PVET cloud platform integration via Wi-Fi, a barcode reader for automatic module ID and position logging, an optional infrared thermometer (E-Temp) for contactless temperature measurement, and a colour touchscreen with smartphone app control, the E-1500 represents a complete field data acquisition system rather than a standalone measurement instrument.

Key Capabilities
200 Curves Per Hour
The fastest capacitive IV tracer on the market. Up to 200 full IV curves per hour — 5× to 10× faster than typical tracers — enabling complete string-by-string coverage of large arrays within a single day's work. With the optional automatic measurement trigger, hands-free operation is possible at the combiner.
E-Sens Wireless Sensor — 2 km Range
The included E-Sens wireless sensor measures irradiance and temperature with a communication range of up to 2 km — the longest in its class. Place E-Sens at the test module once and walk the entire combiner row without range loss or environmental data gaps. Essential for large ground-mount arrays.
Bifacial Albedo Measurement
The first IV tracer in the world to support simultaneous measurement of front-side and rear-side irradiance using up to two reference cells. Correctly accounts for bifacial module rear contribution in Geff calculation for STC correction — essential for accurate IV curve analysis on bifacial string installations.
Barcode Reader Integration
The optional barcode reader scans module serial numbers and records them automatically alongside each IV curve — linking electrical results to specific module IDs and installation positions in a single action. Eliminates manual data entry during commissioning campaigns and supports traceability requirements for warranty documentation.
PVET Cloud & Mobile App
Synchronises with the PVET cloud platform via Wi-Fi for post-measurement analysis, intercomparison, and fault diagnosis across large string datasets. A smartphone app enables remote control and data export. Reports are generated automatically — reducing post-campaign data processing time significantly.
4-Point Measurement & HE Module Support
Uses 4-point (Kelvin) measurement to eliminate voltage drop errors in test leads and wiring — critical for accurate results on long string connections. Reinforced electrical robustness handles transient current peaks and highly capacitive strings from high-efficiency TOPCon and bifacial modules exceeding 600 W.
